My name is Shala, and I’m addicted to glue, glitter and yarn. I’m a dedicated crafter with a huge stash of supplies to prove it. I love trying new crafts. I’ve been crocheting for 20 years, beading for 15 years and knitting for 10. Those are my primary crafts, but not the only ones I do. I come from a very long line of women who skipped the line from art to craft like it was a jump rope. They quilted, made rugs, beaded, knit, crochet, painting, built furniture and carved wood. Handcrafts are an essential part of my life.
Now there are so many kinds of crafts, people still make things using old techniques like knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, needlepoint and embroidery, but they are also making things with plastic bags, cereal boxes, glitter on everything imagined, covering their phones with rhinestones and making pouches to keep them safe. Duct tape is no longer just everyone’s favorite quick repair tape but has stepped into it’s own as a material to make dresses, purses and wallets out of.
What I want to do with this page is to create a resource for crafters of all types to find the books and materials they need for their projects.
